07.08.2022 Lindemans Brewery wins six medals in the first round of the World Beer Awards 2022
Last weekend the medal winners and ‘Country Winners’ were announced at the 2022 World Beer Awards in London (UK). This concludes the first part of the prestigious beer competition, which promotes and rewards the best internationally recognized beer styles. Lindemans Brewery delivered an unprecedented performance. In total, the lambic producer from the Pajottenland, which is celebrating its bicentennial this year, won six awards: five gold and one silver medal. The five gold medalists (Oude Gueuze Cuvée René, Oude Kriek Cuvée René, BlossomGueuze, Strawberry and Goyck) were also elected ‘Country Winner’. They all advance to the global finals on Thursday, August 25.
Lindemans Oude Gueuze Cuvée Francisca was awarded a silver medal in the category 'Sour & Wild Beer, Gueuze style. In the same style category, the Oude Gueuze Cuvée René took gold and the Country Winner’s title. In the category ‘Sour & Wild Beer’, Lambic style, Lindemans BlossomGueuze took gold and was also proclaimed Country Winner. The same happened to Oude Kriek Cuvée René in the category ‘Sour & Wild Beer’, Kriek style. In the category ‘Sour & Wild Beer’, Sour/Wild Ale style, Lindemans Goyck was awarded the gold medal and the Country Winner’s title. Finally, Lindemans Strawberry, which is only available in the American market, also won gold and the Country Winner award in the category ‘Sour & Wild Beer’, Fruit Lambic style.
The family lambic brewery appears to have become a fixture at the World Beer Awards. In 2020 Lindemans won two gold and one bronze medal. Last year Lindemans took the gold medals four times, two of which were Country Winners. In the finals, Lindemans Goyck was even awarded the title ‘World’s Best Style Winner’.
